Sexual Workers in Uganda
Breaking the Cycle: Supporting in Uganda

In the bustling towns in Uganda, a hidden world exists, shrouded in stigma and vulnerability. Sex workers, often marginalized and overlooked, struggle to make ends meet, facing risks that threaten their health, safety, and dignity. At Reform Initiative Uganda, we understand the complexities of this issue and are committed to making a difference.

The Reality

Sex work is a harsh reality in many parts of Uganda, including Eastern Uganda. Driven by poverty, lack of opportunities, and limited access to education and healthcare, many individuals are forced into this profession. The consequences are dire: increased risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), violence, and exploitation.

Our Approach

Reform Initiative Uganda is working hand-in-hand with cooperative authorities and organizations to provide holistic support to sex workers. Our goal is to empower them to leave the profession and start anew. We offer:

  • Counseling and Therapy: Addressing trauma and emotional challenges.
  • Skills Training: Equipping them with skills for alternative livelihoods.
  • Startup Support: Providing resources for small-scale businesses.
  • Health Services: Access to medical care, including STI testing and treatment.
